Choosing flat panel TV stands

Okay, so you’ve either just gotten a new flat panel TV, or you’re planning on getting one and want to be fully prepared. Or maybe you already have a TV stand and want to replace it. Either way, like with any piece of furniture, you don’t want to buy a flat panel TV stand without thinking it over first.

Size and Style

You have to know what size your TV will be to get the right stand. Keep in mind that TV’s are measured diagonally across the screen, so you will have to do some math to figure out how wide it will be. If you leave extra room on either side, you’ll be able to fit other media devices in the flat panel TV stand.
It’s up to you what type of TV stand you get; some will come with drawers or shelves for media components, while others are more simplistic in nature. A good rule of thumb is to get more storage than you currently need, which will leave room for new items or issues.

TV Stand Maintenance

Every type of TV stand needs regular dusting, but some require somewhat more than that. Metal and glass TV stands should be cleaned with commercial glass and general home cleaners when necessary, which is usually once or twice a year. Wooden TV stands should be finished with stain, lacquer or shellac. Each finish requires specific maintenance, and some require extra care. Treat it well, and your television stand will last for years.

Your flat panel TV stand will bring out the best in your flat panel TV, and if you treat your TV stand right, it should last for years.
